Comprehensive Osteopathy Care

Supporting Your Growing Family

Our highly experienced caring Paediatric Osteopaths have a special interest and years of experience working with young families by offering Osteopathy for children and teens, whether they are free from injury or have health concerns ranging from musculoskeletal and neurological, postural issues, movement and co-ordination concerns, physical disabilities, growth challenges and for their overall emotional and physical wellbeing.

Osteopathy for Children

Children can experience strains and alignment issues from the birth process, falls, illnesses, sporting injuries and growth spurts. Our Paediatric Osteopaths help realign their bodies to promote balance, relieve pain, and support healthy development by reducing physical tension and pain in the body that may be associated with common childhood conditions.

At SSG we also work with children needing rehabilitation after injury or post-surgery and growing pains and movement issues.

Conditions in children and infants commonly presenting to osteopaths include, but are not limited to:

  • Sports injuries
  • Muscular strains and  tension associated with asthma and breathing issues
  • Children with persistent health conditions, physical challenges, or issues related to their growth, digestion development, posture, or mobility.
  • Muscle strains and fatigue associated with growing pains
  • Minor strains and sprains resulting from injury
  • Primary headaches resulting from muscular tension
  • jaw and face pain associated with braces and dental issues

Osteopathy for Teens:
Supporting Growing Bodies

Paediatric osteopathy promotes healthy body symmetry, proper posture, and nurtures their growing bodies through childhood and adolescence.

Our Osteopaths at SSG assess movement, coordination, growth, and musculoskeletal development, considering age-specific concerns such as sports-related muscle, joint, tendon, and nerve injuries.

For teenagers, we address challenges like growth spurts, hormonal changes, and posture issues from studying or screen use. We screen and manage conditions such as scoliosis, Sever’s disease (heel pain), and Osgood-Schlatter disease (knee pain), using gentle joint mobilisation and muscle tension release to alleviate strain and improve mobility.

Recognising the demands of adolescent sports, we focus on postural strength, relieving tension, and treating injuries to restore balance and support physical development.

We help ease this teenage transition by providing a wide range of osteopathic treatments for teenagers and focus our treatments on the importance of postural strength and how to build and maintain it, plus relieving muscular tension and joint/ligament sprains from sporting injuries to bring about better body balance.

Supporting the emotional wellbeing of our teen patients is also a fundamental part of our holistic approach to healthcare at SSG and forms the basis of how we nurture and support them through this time of great change.

What to Expect From Your Child's Osteopathic Session With Us

Our consultations provide ample time to take a detailed history, guiding our assessment to uncover potential underlying causes of your child’s concerns.

We evaluate age-appropriate movement, coordination, and musculoskeletal development to monitor progress and address specific needs.

To ensure a pleasant experience for your child during their Osteopathic visit, treatment can take place while your child plays, allowing their natural movements and posture to help us identify areas requiring attention.

We manage common issues from physical activities and sports through manual therapy, gentle stretching, massage, and take-home, play-based exercises. We also provide education on movement, physical skills, and rehabilitation programs.

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle technique our Paediatric Osteopaths use to realign the body, improve fluid dynamics, and release muscular tension caused by environmental and emotional stress or trauma.
