Dr Wayne Mahmoud
Dr Wayne Mahmoud is an Osteopath & Acupuncturist at the Sports & Spinal Group (Beaumaris). Wayne is also the Director of CPD Health Courses, which provides professional development education for health professionals.
Wayne graduated from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) London, in 1985. After graduating, he was offered a position as a clinical tutor at the (BSO) working alongside many of his peers. Wayne also worked as an associate in a busy Osteopathic clinic in Epsom, Surrey and his own clinic in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.
In 1987 he migrated to Australia to take up the position of Head of Clinical Studies at RMIT University, Melbourne. As part of this role he also lectured in the areas of Biomechanics, Clinical Methods, Orthopaedics & Osteopathic Manual Therapy & later continued his teaching career at Victoria University, Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer in his main area of interest, Osteopathic Manipulation Technique.
Wayne became interested in the role of Acupuncture in the treatment of Musculo-skeletal therapy & completed a Masters degree in Acupuncture from RMIT University in 2001. As part of his Masters Degree he completed a thesis titled: Acupuncture treatment of Insomnia (Pilot Study).
Wayne has been a guest lecturer for the Australian Osteopathic Association Continuing Education Program and was the President of his professional body between 1990‐1992.
He has over 29 years of clinical experience in treating sports injuries, back pain, neck & shoulder tension as well as many other muscle and joint injuries & has provided over 60,000 treatments during his career. Wayne treats patients of all ages and presentations; his particular interest is in the treatment of myofascial pain using Dry Needling Therapy.
Among the Elite Athletes that Wayne has helped are Don Elgin (Paralympian Pentathlete), Jacqui Cooper (World No.1 Aerial Skier), Scott Hill (Australian National Rugby League Team, Melbourne Storm & Harlequins Rugby League Teams), Carlos Hernandez (Costa Rica National Football Team & Melbourne Victory) & Andrew Lauterstein (Swimmer & 3 time Olympic Medalist)
As well as treating patients, Wayne teaches Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors & Remedial Massage Therapists Dry Needling skills through CPD Health Courses in every capital city in Australia
