Dr Matt Sharpe (PhD, MA) is a registered Australian Counsellor. He has a Diploma of Counselling from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, with specializations in trauma, grief, youth and relationship counselling. Matt‘s approach to counselling is person-centered, working with clients in dialogue to empower them to make the wisest decisions, based on their strengths, supports, capacities, needs, and values.
He specializes in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), also drawing upon his two decades of academic experience, researching and teaching psychoanalytic and philosophical theory. More recently, Matt has completed a course on pain management with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists’ Faculty of Pain Medicine, as well as having written a “how-to” book to assist bullying targets through the application of Stoic, cognitive behavioural techniques. Outside of work, Matt is a husband and father of two primary school age children, passionate about golf, soccer, curiosity, and enjoying time with family and friends.
